  • Doug Mattingly, MD

    Physician

    Doug Mattingly graduated from the University of Kentucky with High Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa honors in 1990.   He later graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine with Distinction in 1994.  He then went on to do his residency in Virginia from 1994-1997, in which he enjoyed learning the science and art of medicine, deep sea fishing, trips to the beach, and playing in the program’s many basketball and softball games.   

    He worked for a year in Virginia from 1997-1998 as a Locum Tenens physician before returning to his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.  Since 1998, Doug has been providing quality primary care in Louisville with a very knowledgeable, personalized, and “down to earth” style.  He also has continued to maintain his Board Certification in Family Medicine since 1997.  

    Dr. Mattingly is deeply committed to each and every patient’s wellness.  He has excellent diagnostic and treatment skills, which result from being a thoughtful listener, exceptional communicator, and active learner of the recent advancements in medicine.  He is truly passionate about the practice of medicine and caring for his patients, and this devotion to medicine and his patients is exemplified in his thoroughness, consistency, and overall expertise. 

    Dr. Mattingly loves spending time with his wife (Kristi), his 5 kids, and his 2 dogs.  His favorite time of the year is March Madness. He also really enjoys baseball, Churchill Downs, playing guitar, traveling, and anything humorous. 

  • Thad Riley, PA-C

    Physician Assistant

    A native of Bardstown, KY, Thad Riley is graduate of Bellarmine University, where he majored in Biology. In gratitude for his experience and education at Bellarmine, Thad gives back as a President’s Society member and an alumni mentor. Currently, Thad serves on the Bellarmine Board of Overseers.

    Thad received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Kentucky. He initially practiced at Bardstown Internal Medicine for 1 year. Thad then joined Dr. Doug Mattingly at Iroquois Family Medicine (IFM) in south Louisville from 2008 to 2019, providing primary care to his patients at the highest level.  Since then, he has continued his exceptional care of his patients at Premium Primary Care.

    Currently, Thad is back at his alma mater, Bellarmine University, pursuing a PhD in Health Sciences Profession Education. He hopes to use this advanced degree to expand his passion for patient education through clinical research. Thad is a fellow member of both the Kentucky Association of Physician Assistants (KAPA) and the American Association of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Thad is also a Kentucky Colonel.

    Thad loves spending time with his 6 wonderful nieces and nephews, and vacationing at the beach. His favorite time of the year is May, when the Kentucky Derby combines his other two passions: horses and bourbon.
